My hands may have been trembling as I ripped through the pages of this debut from Caroline Kepnes. Kepnes manages to tell a horror story about a menacing, obsessive stalker who will do “anything for love.” By telling the story from his perspective, we are left conflicted: can we trust our narrator and do we understand (or even find ourselves fond of) him? We are thrust into the twisted mind and desires of a man who wants to love and be loved...but won’t let anything stand in his way. Does that sound romantic? Well, think again.
